Recently I have noticed that people in the online community write slangs, slams, hatred, racism and other negative comments that they would never say face to face. What is your perspective on why people online do this?
People who hate videos on youtube.com say bad words all the time. In politics there is always this argument of liberals and conservatives. Why can't both sides understand that they are only a point of view? Can't they debate in a respectful manner?
What does all these slangs, slams and hatred accomplish? From my opinion it just shows that people online are very narcissistic at times. We as humans are not always correct and have to accept our humanity. Humans are not perfect and are not always correct. Why can't the online community accept that we are sometimes wrong and find a concession point?
NOTE: No slams, slangs or hatred. This is to get a personal view on how you see people who are online. Anyone can answer and people from any country your view is welcome.
Why can't people online dialogue in a respectful manner especially on the topic of Politics?
I think there is a boldness being anonymous and aloof. Cowardice actually. Stereo typing just divides us before you state any debate. Ignorance presents rants and behavior one many not exhibit in person. I am not a fan of these neo-con slanders and lib com's or any of the terms. I have been guilty of making some political candidates names up and for that I am trying to reduce it. Mild comments but still? Where do you draw the line.
I saw yesterday so many swear words and garbage slung , more than ever before. Where were the editors? It gets confusing when some slide by and others get a violation?
You have made an excellent comment and a question we should all ask. WHY? And is it outta hand? Have we learned nothing thru history? Hatred begets more hatred and ultimately, violence. We deserve better and should conduct ourselves as adults. The rest is unacceptable. Thank you very much.
Reply:because, when comes to topics like politics, religion, sexual orintation, its never be peaceful. this is way society became. sad but true
Reply:Because some people just don't consider things beyond their own time complex... seeeeellllllfiiiish but whatev goes to show e'm
Reply:politics are never discussed in polite company...either confer with like minded people or be prepared for the onslaught...
Reply:True debate is an art form seldom learned online because the majority wants to scribble with crayons while the true artists are patiently trying to encourage the use of water colors, oil on canvas, etc...
It's easy (and very human) to scribble on someone else’s canvas when you don't appreciate the bigger picture or feel like examining your own painting a little closer for flaws.
Reply:Because we are a society of elitists. We have the sort of 'my views are better than yours and if you don't agree, then you're wrong in the wrongest sense possible.'
Its a shame, but what can you do escept change the way that you deal with how people disagree, and try to lead by example.
:]
Reply:Good question. People get mighty sensitive when their beliefs are being challenged, ESPECIALLY when it comes to politics and religion. I think people are more bold online because it's anonymous. It would be nice if we could just accept that everyone is entitled to their views, and move on, but i dont see that happening. The thing is, in person I get along just fine with people who have different political/religious views than I do, but online it seems impossible.
