Is getting online considered a hobby?

i'm a college student and i like to get online, watching youtube and listening to online radio and read online news. would getting online be considered a hobby? if not, i have to seriously consider getting a hobby.

I don't know. I waste quite a bit of time online, but don't consider it a hobby. To me, my hobbies are the productive things I do. Why am I not being productive now? It's too hot and the light is too bad in here to sew. I promise I'll do more tomorrow!

Reply:Yes of course it is a hobby! but you shoulndnt forget to go outside the house and try other things and socialize. Since its the digital age, we are surrounded with many gadgets and computer programs. Some are into online gaming.Its safe if you make it a hobby not an addiction. It will be an addiction if we you cant live without it and your personal/social life is already affected
Reply:If not a hobby, it's a "pastime" or way to pass the time.





"SWL" or Short Wave Listening is a recognized hobby, so listening to online radio might as well be considered to be a hobby also, if it includes construction of an organized data system. Without the records, it's a pastime.
