User car online ad scam...anything I can do?

here is the scenario - called used car dealer asked if car ad online (w/#VIN) was still available @ posting price of $6000. He says yes and when i get there he told me it was sold (bait %26amp; switch). Shows me another similar car for $7000. I put deposit $500. Go home and realize that its the same VIN and car from the online ad! Now I don't want to deal with these guys no longer. And i'm not sure if i signed the agreement cuz my copy don't have my signature. I called him to discuss the situation and he said that it was a typo and that most of the online prices are wrong??? So i had a friend call and confirm the price of another car online! A dishonest car salesman..go figure....I want my money back! Anything i can do?

A deposit is not a contract to buy. I put a $500 deposit down on a new car this last spring and after asking around to other dealerships found a better one to work with so I just went and asked for my check back, which they had not yet cashed.
Reply:Report them to the Better Business Bureau. Contact a lawyer who will work on contigency (that means he doesn't get paid unless you win.)and who can look into filing a class action suit against them. There are probably many others out there like you who want their money back.

Also

Send your complaint to the local newspaper editor.
Reply:Being a Sales Manager at a dealership I can give you some tips but nothing is 100%

don't sign anything.

Keep the receipt for your deposit

if any is financed..keep them from getting your insurance information.

call the bettter business bureau.

remember this lesson.
Reply:I would take your friend with you and show up with the POLICE and ask for your deposit back. Obviously explain what happened to the police and that you are requesting their assistance in getting your money returned. They may tell you it is a civil matter and not do anything but if you tell them you need them just to KEEP THE PEACE they may be more willing to go with you. GOOD LUCK.
Reply:First of all a bait and switch is showing you a car you cant afford saying its possible. The bait. then later saying he cant lower the price as much as he though but heres a similar car. switch.

I'm confused on paying a deposit? you did buy the car? then you can not return it. It is not a crime to charge you more for a car then they advertised originally. Its only illegal to advertise a car at a lower price then refuse to sell it at that.
